Therefore, in our online learning programmes, we will:
- Make use of AI to generate interesting and engaging course material
- Seek to expose our learners to the capabilities and pitfalls of AI
- Encourage our learners to question and evaluate all the material whether generated by humans alone or with the help of AI
- Include content to help our learners harness AI and understand its implications for the topic under consideration.
However, we also believe that
- AI is not self-aware
- AI has no understanding of whether the content generated is accurate or valid
- AI has no concept of the limits of its own understanding and expertise
Therefore all AI-generated content will only be included after scrutiny by a human expert, and in many cases after significant experimentation by the (human) course developer into the correct questions to ask the AI.
