Universal Design for Learning is an evidence-based educational framework developed by CAST. UDL is grounded in the understanding that learner variability is the norm, not the exception. Rather than designing learning experiences for a mythical “average learner,” the UDL framework seeks to proactively create courses that welcome and value diversity—of ability, culture, language, background, and perspective.
